A Conversation with Casey Cep and Elaine Weiss

As part of the Sophie Kerr lecture series, Casey Cep, a writer from the Eastern Shore, interviewed Baltimore-based journalist Elaine Weiss, via zoom about her book The Woman’s Hour: The Great Fight to Win The Vote. Cep questioned Weiss about her writing process and the research that went into telling accurate stories about the fight for women’s suffrage in the United States. Though Cep was conducting the interview, the two exchanged a lot of praise and useful comments about one another’s nonfiction work. The talk, which was held on Thursday, October 1st 2020, gathered students, faculty members, and community members interested in learning more about the stories Weiss was able to tell her in the book.
