Sarah Manguso Generative Nonfiction Workshop

On Wednesday, 9/9, writer, Sarah Manguso led a generative workshop hosted by the Sophie Kerr Living Writers Series. In attendance were numerous students, faculty, and staff members. The workshop began with introductions from Dr. Sean Meehan, Chair of the English Department and Director of the Sophie Kerr Endowment, as well as Dr. James Hall, Associate Professor of English and Director of the Rose O’Neill Literary House. Manguso’s workshop focused on the concept of details - she presented a series of photos, before asking participants to study and write about the details in each photo that stood out most to them. Afterwards, participants could volunteer to share their writing. As the workshop concluded, many of those in attendance thanked Manguso for providing such a thought provoking experience.
