Jason Patterson Artist Talk
Jason Patterson’s exhibit “On the Black History of Kent County & Washington College” has been virtually available through Washington College’s Kohl Gallery through the whole 2020-2021 academic year. The project received a Chesapeake Heartland Fellowship in March of 2020. Patterson based his artwork on tangible pieces of Black history in Kent County, using mixed media to recreate book pages and portraits of significant historical figures such as Thomas E. Morris, Patricia Godbolt White, and Shirley Dale Patterson Adams, the first three African American graduates of Washington College. The Kohl Gallery hosted an artist talk back in October featuring Patterson who explained the project and the virtual exhibit.
