Craft Talk with Kathryn Nuernberger

For this year’s Mary Goodfellow talk, Kathryn Nuernberger was invited to speak virtually about Writing as Ritual Act: A Virtual Craft Talk. Accompanying Dr. Nuernburger was an ASL interpreter. She spoke about how women have been censored throughout history; however, we may be able to find some truth in the fairies or tales that have been passed down through mothers. Dr. Nuernburger cited examples of such tales like Agnes Waterhouse, Agnes Sampans, and Titaba. All were accused of witchcraft. History tells their stories and other women’s stories using very choice words. If you search deeply, you can onconver some truth. Noteabley, Dr. Nuernberger also said, “When writing the history of secret women, write the history of secret men too.”
