Unforgetting with Roberto Lovato
On October 8th, The Goldstein Program in Public Affairs and The Rose O’Neill Literary House virtually hosted Roberto Lovato to present and discuss his book, Unforgetting: A Memoir of Family, Migration, Gangs, and Revolution. Christine Wade introduced Mr. Lovato and his book, then he began by reading a section from his epilogue. Roberto Lovato accounts he and his family’s experience with migration and gangs, which was initially clouded with severe trauma. However, he persevered in journeying into his family’s underworld*. After he discussed his motivation and process, Mr. Lovato opened the floor to questions. The seventy attendees were eager to ask several questions for the next hour. Themes included border control, politics, gangs, trauma, speaking Spanish, book metaphors, and Greek mythology. Robert Lovato encourages buyers to purchase his book from local bookstores.
*underworld is a word he used a lot because he related his journey to Greek mythology.
