Virtual Exhibit - Picture This: The Erasure of Women’s Voices
As part of the REAL Talk series, each letter of REAL standing for recognizing, engaging, being aware, and learning throughout the process, the Office of Intercultural Affairs created an exhibit entitled “Picture This: The Erasure of Women’s Voices.” The exhibit featured portraits and biographies of women, mostly women of color, in history who have been frequently left out of historical narratives. Some of these women include Cicely Tyson, a Black actress who fought for the dignity of Black actors, and Lucy Hicks Anderson, a trans woman who fought for marriage equality in the United States. The exhibit is an incredibly creative way to engage students with important information while a physical exhibit is less accessible during the pandemic.
