Women’s Basketball: Play for Kay Game

Charity game for the Kay Vow Foundation.

On Feb. 5, 2019, the Washington College Women’s basketball team held their Play for Kay game. Play 4 Kay is an organization started by Kay Yow, the former head coach for the women’s basketball team at NC State University. Kay Yow was diagnosed with breast cancer and decided to unite people through the sport she loves for a greater cause. The Kay Yow foundation has so far raised $7.53 million for women’s cancer research and to assist women with cancer.

The women’s basketball team collected donations for the Kay Yow foundation during half time. The team warmed up in pink shirts to show their support to the foundation. Cassidy Quattro ’19 said, “ I think fundraising is a great way to get the word out about issues and raise money for the people who really need it.”
