The sisters of Alpha Chi Omega Beta Pi chapter hosted their annual Walk-A-Mile in Martha Washington Square on Friday, April 15th at 3:00 p.m. Music blasted through the square as sisters helped eventgoers find a red pair of heels to wear while walking a mile around campus to help them to raise awareness and support for survivors of sexual assault. Before the walk Vice President of Philanthropy junior Emma Russell invited speakers from the organizations Alpha Chi Omega was supporting, For All Seasons and Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence. Survivors from the campus community also stepped up to share their experiences before the walk kicked off. “We wear these heels and we ask you to wear these heels so you may understand the struggle survivors face day to day,” Russell said. Many students stumbled their way along the path, but always had a sister to lean on for support. In the end, everybody completed the walk and Alpha Chi Omega raised over $3,500.
