Walk a Mile 201305/01/2013International Men’s March to stop Rape, Sexual Assault and Gender Violence. A bus was provided to transport all the aching feet back to campus to retrieve their comfy shoes. The CAC was filled with students and community members, all working to raise awareness. Mickey Elsberg, board member of For All Seasons, only made it to the edge of campus last year – this year he reached his goal to make it to Fountain Park. “How does Beyoncé dance in these? …Oh yeah, she’s Beyoncé.” Community Service intern, Katie DeRosa ’13 and Student Development Intern, Erin Franco ’13, helped Beth Anne Langrell in the planning and execution of this event. The participants and Alpha Chi Omega assistants line the stairs of the CAC before setting off to Fountain Park. Some tried to have more fun in the heels. There were a wide variety of participants, including students, community members and even this little guy! The stragglers begin to round the corner to completion. “No wonder girls take these off as soon as they get places.” For All Seasons Executive Director, Dick Goldstein, gave a quick speech to kickoff the walk. Men exchange their comfy shoes for some bright red kitten heels. One participant broke his heel running for the finish. The walk took students from Casey Academic Center, down between Toll and Goldstein and through town to end in Fountain Park. About 100 people participated, including the AXO helpers! The first few to make it to Fountain Park pose, happy to be done the walk. As a final project for class, Chelsea Tyler added these white shirts with chilling statistics and facts about rape and rape culture.
