January 17-20, 2024
The cast and crew of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical gather in Gibson.
Four and a half days before the spring semester began, the cast and crew of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical gathered on campus for bonding and activities. The Lightning Thief is set to be performed in early April, and will be the first full-scale musical in Decker Theater. On the first night of this early move-in, everyone learned the schedule, shared in eating pizza, and watched the Percy Jackson Disney+ TV show. On the second day, everyone gathered for a full read-through of the script with many laughs, and the cast and crew joined together to play wax museum. At night, there was a full fledged game of capture the flag within Gibson to commemorate the series’ depiction of the game. The next day was complicated, as snow covered the entirety of campus, but designers still met in the morning via Zoom to discuss initial concepts. The next day, the designers presented their ideas and shared their thoughts on the production. It was a fun few days of bonding of the future members of theatrical Camp Half-Blood.
