Temporal Boundaries Performance Arts Series: Alie[N]ation

March 05, 2019

On Tues., March 5, the Kohl Gallery hosted the final exhibit for their 3-part performance art series. This final performance entitled Alie[N]ation by Hoesy Corona was a multimedia performance that explored the question: Who is considered an alien, and who is considered fully human within the United states? Corona embellished the performance with hyperbolized alien tropes, xenophobic language, and stereotypical features to portray the scapegoat during the current era of the U.S.

This final event was an exceptional way to conclude this series of art. Elaborate costumes and abstracts filled the exhibit as people walked around, enjoying both the art and performers. Megan Klink ’20, commented on the exhibit, “I think that this particular exhibit is a really good example of how to incorporate yourself in the art, and going through the process of learning about your materials and not just focusing on reaching that final product. It demonstrates how one can embody themselves within their artwork.”
