Students, Trees, and, & Bees: Earth Day and the American Campus
In celebration of Earth Day, The Starr Center hosted an event called “Students, Trees, and, & Bees: Earth Day and the American Campus,” as part of the series “Thursdays with the Starr Center.” Kacey Stewart of the Starr Center live streamed outside from Washington College’s campus, discussing the history of Earth Day as he introduced speakers Jemima Clark of the Center for Environment & Society and Shane Brill, the Interim Director of Sustainability and Regenerative Living, both of whom were also outside on-campus with Stewart. The guest speakers centered the conversation on environmentalism around Washington College specifically. The event highlighted Washington College’s current involvement with the Tree Campus Higher Education program and the campus garden program as direct ways in which the college interacts with environmentalism.
