Senior Reading
The annual Literary House Senior Reading was hosted by Dr. James Hall, director of the Literary House, over zoom. The bitter-sweet event gave seniors their final podium as they read their original work, including poetry and flash fiction. The large turnout of talented seniors reading at the event included Liane Beckley, Joanne Bond, MacKenzie Brady, Annalie Buscarino, Leah Duff, Victoria Gill, Elizabeth Hill, Nicole Hatfield, Rebecca Kanaskie, Sarah Bowden, Michelle Ly, Justin Nash, Natasha Slaby, Jacky Smith, Megan Walsh, and Tamia Williams. It was a tearful farewell filled with brilliant literature. Dr. Hall was also proud to announce the winners of three Literary House prizes awarded to students who entered their essays and stories for competition. The William W. Warner Price for Creative Writing on Nature and the Environment was awarded to Justin Nash for his essay “The Only Sound, The Overflow.” The Literary House Genre Fiction prize was awarded to Tamia Williams for her story “The Secret Art of Self Healing While Escaping White Fragility.” The Jude and Miriam Pfister Poetry prize was awarded to Nicole Hatfield’s poem “Principle 2: Catch and Store Energy.”
