On May 3rd at 4:30 p.m., the Sophie Kerr endowment sponsored the 2022 Harwood Lecture on American Journalism by Pulitzer-prise-winning journalist and author, Rachel Kaadzi Ghansah. Dr. James Hall and Professor Sufiya Abdur-Rahman opened up the reading by speaking of Kaadzi Ghansah and her many accolades. Professor Abdur-Rahman described Ghansah as “not afraid to do the unexpected” for a story citing courageous moments where she went beyond the norm to get the facts and sources her pieces needed. Ghansah’s work has been featured in many publications, and she is now in the process of writing her first book. During the event, Ghansah read a new essay she had recently been working on. Following her powerful reading, the Zoom call was opened to attendees to participate in a Q&A session.
