Washington College’s Second Annual Presidential Symposium was held on October 6th, 2023 from 12:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. in Hotchkiss Recital Hall. This year, the program was entitled, “The Human and the Machine: Whose Intelligence?” due to its focus on Artificial Intelligence and its influence on various aspects of higher education. Provost and Dean Kiho Kim started the event with opening remarks. The symposium was split into four main sessions: Washington College Students on AI, Faculty and Staff Research: “Art, Artificality, Human, and Machine,” AI’s Impact in College and Beyond, and AI and the Future of Work: Perspectives in Business and Beyond. Each presentation group discussed the implications of AI within their respective fields and work. Overall, the event brought together various students, faculty, and staff together to better understand the role of AI at Washington College and its operations as a whole.
Two attendees of the symposium view the schedule over a cup of coffee.
