The weekend of October 27th was the annual downrigging of the Sultana. Students were invited by the Starr Center to board the Lynxx, an interpretation of an 1812 privateer ship. Led by the mates of the ship, students hoisted the sails and launched into the Chester River. The crew provided historical information about the ship and the War of 1812 while demonstrating an explosion by one of the ship’s carronades. The crew also entertained the guests with several sea shanties ending with the popular Wellerman shanty sung by all.
