Lambda Alpha

Gamma Chapter of Maryland

Lambda Alpha was founded at Wichita State University. Its name is composed of the initial letters of the Greek words LOGOS ANTHROPOU, meaning β€œThe Study of Human Beings.” This is the Gamma Chapter of Maryland because it is the third chapter to have been established within the state.

Lambda Alpha encourages and stimulates scholarship and research in anthropology by recognizing and honoring superior achievement in the discipline among students, faculty, and other persons engaged in the study of anthropology. The society strives to provide an academic and social forum in order to address anthropological issues at institutional, local, state, regional, national, and international levels and to promote the field of anthropology within the Washington College community.
