Habitat for Humanity Spring Break Trip 2018

The Habitat for Humanity club traveled to Sumter, South Carolina for their 17th annual spring break trip.

Over spring break, twenty-nine members of the Habitat for Humanity club traveled to Sumter, South Carolina to assist with building a home for the Woods family. The group first began their trip with a visit to Echo Hill Outdoor School where they took part in a few team-building activities. The team then departed on Sunday, March 11th to work on the house for five days before returning home on Saturday, March 17th.

While in Sumter, the Habitat spring break team made progress on building the roof, stabilizing the house, and preparing it for siding. When not building, the group participated in a number of fun activities, such as a history tour of Sumter and a tour of Eaton electric company’s local factory. Many new members that joined this trip expressed interest in returning on Habitat trips in the future. New member Sarah Bowden found it was a great opportunity to “make a difference in a way [she] could see directly.”

“This trip showed me that I have power to change the world for the better,” Sarah said. Sarah and many other new members on the trip said they would definitely be back for another Habitat trip again in the future.
