Habitat for Humanity 20th Anniversary Celebration

March 30, 2019

On Sat., March 30, Habitat for Humanity hosted a celebration for their 20th anniversary. The club held a service event with alumni on Kent lawn, where they built the walls to a house that would later be transported. Later, a dinner reception was held at the Hodson Boathouse. Several guest speakers spoke about their experience with Habitat, and dozens of alumni came to celebrate. Keynote speakers included: Justin Yerkie, the club’s current president; Maria Hynson, the club’s advisor; Erika Koontz, the club’s previous president, and Tom Baxter, a friend of the club from one of New Jersey’s Habitat for Humanity affiliates. Following the speeches, the club released the video from its spring break trip this year and opened up the floor for dancing. There was also a silent auction that helped raise money for future service trips.
