EROS Non-ConFormal

November 18th, 2022

Students lined up for the opportunity to chat with the enchanting drag queen.

Students were free to dress however they wished and spent the night with close friends.

President of EROS Morgan Carlson takes to the dance floor to give an energized lip sync performance in their new drag-sona.

Encouraging Respect of Sexualities (EROS) hosted The Non-ConFormal dance from 9:00 pm to midnight in the skybox. All students and faculty were welcome to attend and encouraged to wear whatever made them most comfortable. The dance was hosted by drag queen Onyx Black who, in true RuPaul fashion, lipsynced for her life to a 90’s music mashup and later to Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Up.” At the end of the dance, Onyx chose members of the excited crowd to participate in a lip sync battle of their own where contestants created their own drag persona before performing impromptu choreography to a randomly chosen song, such as “Anaconda” by Niki Minaj or “It’s Raining Men” by The Weather Girls. Many members of the LGBTQ+ community have not felt safe or like they could be their truest selves at dances in the past, and the aim of The Non-ConFormal was to create a safe space where everyone could enjoy themselves to the fullest without fear.

Caryl Townsend and Liv Barry share a dance together.

Onyx Black gives one lucky student a lap dance during her lip sync routine.
