Equestrian Team Paperchase
April 23rd, 2023
For the past few semesters, Washington College’s equestrian team has hosted an event for team and club members, students, and community members on the scenic River and Field Campus. This spring, the team’s paperchase took place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23rd. A paperchase is essentially a scavenger hunt completed on horseback. Riders trekked a trail that wound through trees, beside tall grasses, and along the waterfront, answering Earth Day trivia questions along the way in order to earn points for their group. Riders were timed, as another goal of a paperchase is to come close to the predetermined “optimal time” for the trail. Spectators also attended. They enjoyed the beautiful weather while walking the trail on foot. At the event, WCET also provided food, sold merchandise, and raffled off gift cards to local businesses. The winning teams for this semester’s paperchase were Three Bay Leaves, Tuckahoe Pony Club, and Better Late Than Never.
