Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) was on November 1st and 2nd this year. To commemorate their lossed loved ones, the Spanish department—including Assistant Professor of Spanish, professor Ponti and Professor of Spanish and Black studies, professor Deanda—hosted an event to encourage students to celebrate the holiday on Friday, November 10th. The event started at 6:00 p.m. and came with free and authentic food, such as tamales wrapped in corn husks or pan de muerto (bread of the dead). Several clubs and organizations helped, including African Student Union, Latino Student Union, and Black Student Union. After the food, Washington College students in Spanish classes were encouraged to perform their own song they practiced together in Spanish lab.

All photos were taken with explicit permission out of respect for the people who have passed.
