Washington College celebrated the Hispanic holiday Día de los Muertos, more commonly referred to as Day of the Dead, on Thursday, November 4th in the Hodson Egg. Hispanic studies students helped to build an altar decorated with sugar skulls, marigolds, fake candles, paper lanterns, and Pan de Muertos, a traditional Mexican bread for the dead. In front of the altar, students placed photos of deceased family members, pets, friends, and celebrities. Decorations to adorn the photos were also provided. Students also lined up to enjoy tamales as well as Mexican hot chocolate. The event gave students a moment to celebrate life and honor the dead in each other’s company.

Students gather to enjoy traditional refreshments and treats.
