On December 3rd, the Washington College Department of Theatre & Dance held its annual showcase for student dancers, Dancescape, in Decker Theatre. This year’s show, directed by Renee Gerardo, featured dancers from many different years, styles, training, and cultural backgrounds. Performances leaned into Kathak, classical ballet, and contemporary dance. Numbers were choreographed by the performers, alumni, and guest artists Caitlyn Creasy ‘20 and Amber Daniels. Among these pieces were classics such as Dance of the Reed Flutes, reconstructed and conceived by Paleena Amy ‘23, and performed alongside Hannah Pacholok ‘26, as well as original choreography like Sneha Vireshwar Dixit ‘23’s Natarang Ubha performance and Torn by Jodi Eren ‘23. Dancescape 2022 was not only a showcase for the many applications of dance and movement, but it also allowed senior dancers to express themselves one last time on stage before graduation.

“Rangapura Vihara,” choreographed by Sneha Vireshwar Dixit and Akshara Oruganti, concludes Dancescape 2022.
