Center for Environment & Society: Shawn Clark Talk

March 08, 2018

On Wednesday, March 7th, Dr. Shawn Clark from Berea College visited WAC to discuss the importance of sustainable agriculture and its role in a liberal arts education. Clark gave a presentation on the lessons and insights found from pursuing a better food system at the Berea College Farm. Michael Hardesty, the Associate Director of Programs and a CES staff member, first introduced Dr. Shawn Clark. Clark first gave an overview of Berea College Farm and its sustainability practices, followed by some statistics that showed positive results after making improvements to the farm’s sustainability methods. One of Berea College’s main goals is to promote and educate its students on agricultural acts other than food production, so that they may contribute to improving the nation’s food sustainability.
