Douglass Cater Society of Junior Fellows

The Cater Society helps us to set aside that time (whether we think we have it or not) to take a chance, go out on a limb, and just test some of our ideas. In the end, that is how we learn the most. Whether our ideas were right or wrong or inconclusive, we still come away with something new and a more complex appreciation of the topic of study.

This year, it has continued to build and grow as a society. This year the society is graduating 30 seniors. They had another successful fall with the Cater Society Apprentice Program and this year they have also added a world map to the website tracking where junior fellows have traveled over the recent years. Most recently, the Cater Society supported students to travel to Peru, Chile, Japan, Nepal, Costa Rica, and England, as well as those who chose to explore more of the United States. With projects including healthcare, sustainability, human rights, education, and even Shakespeare, the Cater Society of Junior Fellows has offered students the support to pursue a love for learning and a passion for discovery.

This past year, the Cater Society of Junior Fellows went to Heron Point once each semester to share their projects and presentations with the residents. They also had their semesterly mixer with members of Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa. They concluded with their annual symposium, showcasing a collection of projects that were completed during the year.
