Caring for Kids 2013

Caring for Kids was officially established as a Service Club in March of 2012, making this its first official year. 

Mission Statement:

“We are committed to elping children at Johns Hopkins Hospital ease their suffering by visiting with them, donating books and other material to make them smile and forget about their illness. We are also dedicated in helping around Kent County. We represent Washington College students who want to help children in need. We have been involved with so many events since then.”

Events

  • The club participated in the Chestertown Halloween Parade, representing National Make A Difference Day, and won first place.

  • The club worked with the Kent County BackPack Program weekly to provide backpacks of food for children who receive free lunches throughout the week. 

  • Caring for Kids made Build A Bear teddy bears for children at Johns Hopkins

  • The club hosted Book Fest in the last week of November.

  • They had one-on-one reading with children to help books reading scores. 

  • Caring for Kids had a pajama drive for children at Johns Hopkins as well as a school supply drive for Kent County Schools.
