Diversity Week

Diversity Week took place from November 9th to November 13th. The week started with Dialogue Day, which discussed diversity, inclusion, racial battle fatigue, and unconscious bias. A presentation on diversity and inclusion was given by Alexandria Baker, Research and Instruction Librarian. Later in the day, Carese Bates, Director of Intercultural Affairs, presented on racial battle fatigue. She also presented on unconscious biases in a zoom meeting later that day. On Tuesday, the film We Still Live Here was discussed. This “Tea and “Talk” was sponsored collaboratively with SGA, Library and Academic Technology, and the Anthropology department. Wednesday was Cultural Pride Day, a day to celebrate your culture. Everyone could send a short video celebrating their culture into the Intercultural Affairs Office. On Thursday, a conversation on socio-economic status and generational wealth in underrepresented groups of people was led by Will Thomas, the Author of Wealth over Riches: Escaping the Paycheck Cycle. The week concluded on Friday with social media posts about global citizenship and the experiences and bi-lingual conversations that current students are having with one of our partner communities in Ecuador.
