AXO Walk A Mile in Their Shoes

April 15, 2018

On Sunday, April 15th, Alpha Chi Omega held their annual philanthropy event, “Walk-a-Mile In Their Shoes” in Martha Washington Square. According to sister Jennifer Walls, the Public Relations and Marketing Chair for 2018 and Philanthropy Chair for 2017, “the purpose of the event has always been to take a stand against domestic violence and sexual assault, draw attention to April as Sexual Assault Awareness month, and bring our community together to pledge against sexual violence.” All participants were invited to wear heels during the walk as a way to get people involved and to start the conversation about ending sexual assault. Preceding the walk, Paris Mercier came to share her own story about sexual assault. She read a heartfelt poem and bravely spoke about her own survival story in order to spread awareness to others. After the walk, the step team performed a dance routine for the crowd.
