AXO Hera Day

February 28th, 2023

AXO sisters manned the sorority’s table in Hodson Hall, encouraging students to participate as they made their way to class or headed upstairs to grab a meal.

Some students chose to write encouraging phrases on sticky notes, which could be posted around campus for others to see.

One of Washington College’s sororities, Alpha Chi Omega, tabled in Hodson Hall from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28th as a part of their annual Hera Day celebration. (That of which, is officially slated for March 1st.) The Greek goddess Hera is the organization’s patron goddess. To celebrate her, AXO sisters strive to cultivate kindness by encouraging students to participate in random acts of service. “It’s one of the ways we work to engage with the campus community,” President of AXO and junior Abby Collins said. This year, AXO sisters asked students to write thank you notes to people they care about and appreciate. The sorority’s table was decorated with a spread that included notecards, sticky notes, and pens for writing or decorating a friendly message.

Students gathered around AXO’s table to write notes to partners, friends, professors, and more.
